Here's an idea. Screencapture in Captivate requires that you (the user) are running Captivate with Administrator rights.
Get your IT person to log into your PC with their user profile, set Captivate to Run As Administrator, and then launch Captivate themselves to see if they also cannot use the recording keys.
If they find they CAN use the keys that don't work for you, then the issue is related to you not having sufficient user privileges.
So F12 Preview in Browser does NOT work for you?
Are you on a Windows or MAC platform?
Sorry...just read your earlier posts and saw that you are on Windows and F12 doesn't work either.
Normally if this is the case I would first suggest you reset your Preferences folder, and if that doesn't work then reinstall Captivate 2017 and reset Preferences again AFTER the reinstall.
Something else that can often interfere with previewing functions is that some corporate OS configuration seem to disable the way Captivate does it, probably because Captivate is using a sawn-off version of the Chrome browser to do the preview in browser. So are you in a corporate environment or is this your own personal computer with a standard Win7 OS setup?
I think what you are asking is whether or not Captivate can create the kind of online HELP content that could be linked into the Help system of another app (e.g. SAP) so that if the user is trying to perform a task, and they click on the HELP button in that task screen, the Captivate content is displayed for them.
Is that correct?

I know there was an old blog regarding this back in 2011 but it does not appear to be available anymore. I know how to call one project from another using a URL, but I can not figure out how to tell the second project what slide to jump to. Both projects are on a web server and have been built using Captivate 2017. Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Did you upload the published course to a webserver or a LMS?
This is more likely an issue with the LMS.
*IF* Captivate is indeed telling the LMS to set the cmi.exit value to Normal on completion, then it's up to the LMS to NOT send back the suspend_data to the course.
If the cmi.exit value is 'suspend' then the LMS should send that resume data back to the course.
I don't believe Capivate tests the LMS cmi.exit value - it just reacts to what is sent to it from the LMS.
If the LMS sends back the suspend_data, the CP course will resume. If it does not, it will start from the beginning.
I've not tested whether setting 'Set Exit to normal after completion' actually functions properly, I'm assuming it does. If it does, and the LMS value is set to 'normal' then it should not send back the resume data....in which case the CP course shoudl not resume, but restart
Can you be more specific about what you mean by download the asset and "drag into project"? I'm on Captivate 10.0.0.192, don't see any characters even though they are present in the folder C:\Users\Public\Documents\Adobe\elearning Assets.
Set Exit to Normal After Completion is not available for SCORM 1.2 in the more recent versions of Captivate. It DID appear as a checkbox option in earlier versions of Captivate, but has now been removed UNLESS you are using SCORM 2004. It would appear that it was included for SCORM 1.2 by mistake in earlier Captivate versions.
So an initial question here would be which SCORM version are you trying to configure, 1.2 or 2004?
You can import them from that folder in the Library, and drag them on slides. Or try to import directly using the Media button, Image.
I've tried this on two different computers, each running Windows 10 and Captivate 2017 and both experience the same problem. After I select Text > Text Animation, the Text Animation dialog box will not display. Nothing happens. It just sits there. I can add the other two types of text boxes but no Text Animation.
Has anyone else run into this problem?
Exact same thing here. using 2011 MacBook Pro. Not sure what I'm missing.
This works for me as well, not an ideal work around though. Using a 2011 Macbook Pro as well.
Are you creatng a responsive project? Text animations are not supported for HTML5 export.
Have a look on your timeline for any layers like this, that are near the start and continue to the end of your timeline and say a time in seconds e.g "6.0s". When trying to reduce the slide duration to lower than this number, it will just ignore what you type in.
If you select these layers and press CTRL+E and make them display for the rest of the slide (as seen on the layers below), then you should be able to reduce the slide duration.
Say, i'm having over twenty modules exported in HTML5 using a same theme. Now i want to integrate them into my website.
As i can see in the source code, there is a large number of common files among those modules which i want to group into a "global" resource folder in order to reduce the size consumed.
Is there a way to realize that wish?
P/s: i saw an other question about slimming down exported modules but it wasnt answered
I understand your intention, and it would make perfect sense from a web development or software development perspective. However, Captivate is not set up to allow you to set any kind of preference that would specify a common folder for all standard files that are published each time you create an HTML5 module.
You might be able to hack into the published HTML5 and JS code to manually change all the references to these files so that they all went to the same common folder. But honestly, I think that's way more trouble than it's worth just for the sake of reducing the clutter.
Feel free to log an enhancement request with Adobe for something like this, but don't bet on it happening any time soon. The focus right now is more on other areas of the app.
