I downloaded the trial 6.0.1.240 about two weeks ago and finally got motivated to start today. Captivate loads okay but now my file manager (My Documents) has slowed WAY down even without Captivate running? I am fairly patient but this is REALLY slow.
I have an older Dell M90/Intel Duo 1.82 GHz/3.25 GB Ram/600 GB available of 900 GB on disc/XP SP 3 and all needed updates. I use Open Office in .ppt mode and the latest Java. I have an AT&T U-Verse connection-Cat 5. All files for Captivate are local. I've read the README and checked supports latest issues. What did I miss?
Besides running out and buying the Very fastest laptop, What else can I do for 'normal' system performance? Considering the slow issues for all the much faster machines here, It makes me wonder about the useability of the product. I may rent a high speed machine and lease Captivate for a month before jumping here. Maybe a dual-boot with Linux and an attached MS file system? When the trial run out I will uninstall the product to see if that is a cure. I would very much like to use Captivate but what if you bought a Tesla and could only drive 5 mph?
