It looks like they usually use Camtasia when they do their screencasting (maybe Screenflow on the Mac). Obviously Camtasia is a great tool for quick and easy screencasts but what message does it send regarding Captivate when Adobe doesn't even use it? If it's too hard, difficult, or time consuming, how do they think the average user finds using it? If that's the case, make it easier to do some "quick and dirty" screencasts without being a huge production.
Most people think that Camtasia and Captivate are competitors, but I really don't think they are. They cross over somewhat but they both have their place and to me, are different tools in the toolbox. I use Camtasia much more than I use Captivate (because I do basic screencasts more than big projcts) but there is no way I could use Camtasia to do the projects I do in Captivate. Captivate can do some pretty complex projects! I used to do a lot of work with Authorware and Captivate is about the closest thing we have to that.
I really wish Captivate would get more love from it's parents Image may be NSFW.
