motion path of objects in a slidelet

Hello All,

   I am trying to create a cause/effect diagram inside of a slidelet. When I try to add a motion path to a smart object in the slidelet, the path marker (the green and red arrow) suddenly drops out of the slidelet and off the stage. Can I prevent this from happening? Thanks!
