Can you please expound a bit? I'm totally confused as I don't see where PowerPoint was mentioned as a suggested alternative.
I could expound endlessly. But, I read:
You would be better off building these questions on normal slides
...so I stupidly assumed they were talking about PPT, because nobody ever talks about Keynote that I see when searching endlessly, except for the Apple forum and a few others on basic how to's. Maybe I'm searching poorly. Is there a better choice?
(Captiv8tr, I've seen you credited in several forums elsewhwere about the incredible help you give with Captivate. Wow, guy. Impressive. Seriously.)
Do you agree on just slides? If so, what should my next step be? I spent all today working with hyperlinks in Keynote since regular slides were suggested, because it's so easy for me. I didn't want to start over if I didn't have to. Captivate and Powerpoint feel alien, but I can master them if I have to.
So far, hyperlinks are doing pretty well. I wanted to keep track of kids' responses via Captivate, but maybe I can't and still keep it minimal. Maybe I should see if I'm even capable of creating what I need for the online kids.
For more explicit reading diagnosis a few lessons in, I willl absolutely need to monitor them, if my project works. (It will. I handle failing young readers extremely differently than schools do.) Hence my Captivate trial. But maybe it's too soon to worry about building that in?
I'm more than willing to go with something I don't know and start over again, if it would be better suited. I have hundreds of successful lessons created for my IRL stuents, but I need checks of understanding for online kids who I'm not personally working with. I'm totally open to ideas, and would be amazingly grateful for any thoughts. I feel sure that it's clear that I'm a teacher, not a tech lady.
I apologize for the extreme wordiness. This is my heart, night and day. It's just wrong for me to teach the kids whose parents can afford me, and do nothing for the families that can't. If it can't be 1-on-1, surely with technology I can make this happen.
Please fill me in on what you suggest I do.
