You may find that resetting the preferences fixes the issue.
While you don't say what version of Captivate you are using, I'll assume it's version 6 on a PC.
Close Captivate
Locate the icon you click to open Captivate and right-click it.
Choose Properties.
From the Shortcut tab, click the button labeled "Open File Location". This should open Windows Explorer at the location where Captivate is installed.
Now look for the Utils folder. Open it up and double-click the file named CleanPreferencesWin.
Restart Captivate and see if the isse is resolved.
