Paste and paste special are both greyed out. I cannot paste from any other application either. This is the only windows product I have ever come accross that wont allow this VERY basic function. CRUSHING limitation

Re: What is "Force Re-Publish All The Slides?"

Here's a reason to use it - if you change a project title when you publish, the change doesn't 'stick' unless you use Force Republish All.  That is a good illustration of the type of files that do NOT get updated if you publish without that option checked.

I like the concept of having an option to publish everything or just the changes, though - publishing used to take a long time!

Course communication with an LMS

I am having some trouble getting a Captivate course to communicate with our LMS in a particular setting. I have marked the course to be completed after all slides have been viewed. In most cases, this information is sent to the LMS, the course is marked as completed there, and no problem. However, we have a certain subset of users that cannot get the completion status. We've also noticed that when these same users attempt to relaunch the course, it begins again at the first slide, so bookmarking is not working either. This leads us to believe that the course is not sending data to the LMS for these users. We suspect some type of a PC or network setting at this location, but are not sure what to check (especially since none of us on the Education team are experiencing the issue). We are also pursuing this with our LMS vendor, but I wanted to see if anyone here had any suggestions.

HTML5 : How to replace Timer widget

Hi!

I have many games that use Timer widget: "Find out something in 10 seconds". The timer countdown from 10 to 0.

In html5, the timer doesn't work. Is there an another to do that? Some king of advanced action with variable or something?

Thanks!

Audio editor never opens

I have a project that i am attempting to update audio - I've tried to click Audio, Edit, Slide and also Audio, Edit, Slides and the box never opens. It freezes the program and nothing ever opens.

Any ideas on why this would happen?

Upgrading to 6 or 6.1?

The department I work for is starting the process of upgrading Captivate (we have 5.5 currently). Assuming that either one is an option, which version would people suggest, 6 or 6.1?

I've been following a few discussions about the two versions, and from what I can gather they seem to be at different places in terms of bug fixes. Obviously 6.1 will have some more features like drag-and-drop, but I'm personally more concerned about bugs. For example, I saw there was a JavaScript/SCORM/IE bug for which you can email Adobe to ask for a patch, but last time I checked the patch is only for 6. (An aside: emailing for a bug fix? It's strange Adobe can't just have a link on their website with some instructions...)

I don't really think there's a black and white answer for this, but I was curious to hear what other Captivate users have to say.

I've had this problem with multiple monitors. In my case the audio pop-up was actually opening up in what Captivate thinks is an external monitor that doesn't actually exist. Try playing around with your display settings a little bit to see if that can make the audio box appear.

Thanks I typically do work with multiple monitors but today I’m only have 1 monitor.

I’ll try looking at the settings.

Thanks for the response

Hi there

Two things:

First: Please report as a BUG to adobe. In this day and time where nearly everyone works with multiple monitors, it's really a failure on their part that the application would behave that way. Unfortunately, until they hear from enough folks about it there likely isn't anything that will change.

Visit http://www.adobe.com/go/wish to report the bug.

Until Adobe fixes Captivate, you may wish to use a multiple monitor utility such as MurGeeMon. Applications such as these will often provide a way to move hidden windows into view.

To obtain MurGeeMon, visit http://www.murgee.com/MurGeeMon

Cheers... Rick

Hi again,

Please try the below steps:

  • Save your Projects.
  • Close Captivate.
  • Go to C:/Users/[user-name]/AppData(Hidden Folder)\Local\Adobe
  • Inside Adobe you will see a folder named Captivate 5
  • Rename that folder to anything and lauch Captivate again.

See if this helps.

Thanks!

Thanks for reaching Adobe Community.

Unfortunately, the timer widget is not supported  HTML 5 object.

Thanks!

I know that it's not working. My post actually asks for an alternative.

Laurie-Anne, there are two system variables that are linked with time, both in ms: cpInfoElapsedTimeMS and cpInfoEpochMS. The first gives you the time since the file started, the other since 1Jan 1970. I don't know what you want exactly to do with the time, it is possible to show it, but like with the Timer widget, you cannot yet trigger something when time is 'over'. In 6.1 there is a countdown widget, I'm not sure that it is working for HTML output.

Captivate 6.0 Corrupted/Lost Standard Object Settings

Hello,

As I was doing some final 'tweaking' on my project I noticed my text captions were looking choppy.

I discovered that all my text caption transition effects had been reset to "No Transition".  Only those, thankfully, not smart shapes or highlight boxes or images.

While I was in the middle of reaccomplishing all my transition timing, though, I came across a smart shape that was bloated and out of position.  I had created a flattened diamond to highlight a diamond-shaped figure on a flow chart. The small smart shape was now huge, covering the entire project.  I scrolled down and found the rest of those diamonds in the same predicament, along with every other smart shape I had created (arrows). None of the shapes were used as buttons, and that setting remained the same, but the position and size of every smart shape were completely corrupted.

I had turned on the backup option, but it did me no good since the project and its backup copy both had the same corrupted objects.  I was able to retrieve a copy I had manually saved to another hard drive the night before, so I "only" lost five hours of work.

Is this corruption issue a known problem? I found nothing indicating it.  While I love learning and using Captivate my confidence in the product just got hit pretty hard...

I am using version 6.0.1.240.

Regarding the backup feature, is it worth suggesting that we get the option to create separate, sequential backups instead of one backup that's continuously overwritten?

Thanks!!

TT

Are the slides paused as the widget counts down? Is it possible to simply have the slide last for 10 seconds, with staggered captions (each one with a number) appearing each second? If you need something to happen once they reach the end, then you could execute an advanced action upon "exit." (Like pause the slide, show incorrect caption, show next button, etc.)

Without knowing the details of your games I don't know if I'm being helpful or suggesting something silly/unworkable, but it's a thought.
